I spent 6 weeks building core IT, coding and employment skills to help me become a software engineer apprentice. These were learnt through hands-on and interactive sessions. I also learnt how use different languages to thoroughly test new features, developments and write programmes to solve problems others can't.
I was responsible for creating a personal and engaging shopping experience for customers. I was required to be knowledgeable about various products and work successfully as part of a team. Strong communication skills were key in order to build relationships with managers, team members and customers. The fast paced environment of retail demanded us to remain calm under pressure.
During the work placement I completed two week long intensive projects which included designing an app of my own creation. We were taught the different processes a product goes through and applied them whilst carrying out the projects.
During the programme I gained a fundamental understanding of agile development methodology implemented it whilst designing a website as a team project. We learnt the basics of python a high velocity completing various tasks to meet demands. I also trained in cloud computing by AWS cloud solution architects and QA consultants.
With a clear understanding of html, CSS and JavaScript I'm able to create responsive webpages. I have a fundamental understanding of python and cloud computing.
During two week-long projects I had to create a web application prototype and banner. This required me to learn UX design and adapt to using new softwares and skills in a short time.
Through implementing agile methodology whilst working, I'm able to communicate with team memebers effiecently and effectively. This is key when conveying complex ideas.
